Visit the Discovery Center at 552 1st St. in Cedar Key, FL!

Our facility provides an opportunity to teach people of all ages about conservation and management of natural resources in the Nature Coast.

The Discovery Center houses a number of local species including Red Drum, Spotted Seatrout, Cobia, Snook, Pinfish, Diamondback Terrapin, and an Alligator Snapping Turtle.

Discovery Days:

Fridays and First & Third Saturdays 1 PM to 4 PM February - April

During the following Discovery Days, a UF Student or Volunteer will be available to provide talks about the center and facility, along with information on local aquaculture.

Self Guided Discovery Days:

Every Friday from 1 PM to 4 PM (Off Season)

Visitors can explore our public education room on the first floor of the facility in downtown Cedar Key (552 1st St). An Animal ID booklet will be provided as you meet some of our favorite local inhabitants. Species range from the popular sportfish like Red Drum and Spotted Seatrout, to our very own Suwannee River Alligator Snapping Turtle.
