Join the crowd in downtown Cedar Key for the lighting of the Cedar Key Light Station on July 5, 2019! This historical landmark will come back to life with the help of a new replica lens from the Florida Division of Historical Resources. The Cedar Key Light Station was built in 1854 and had a working light up until 1915. The Light Station is owned by the Lower Suwannee and Cedar Keys National Wildlife Refuges, and the facility is maintained and operated as part of the UF/IFAS Nature Coast Biological Station. The Cedar Key Historical Society Museum, and shops and restaurants will be open from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with music and a fun time. The lighting will take place for viewing off of G Street in Cedar Key with a presentation starting at 9:00 pm.
UF IFAS Nature Coast Biological Station will be hosting a “Discovery Day” July 5th from 1PM-4PM in the first floor public education room. Meet some of Cedar Keys native species and explore wildlife on the Nature Coast!
